In the past week or so, I've heard a few people talking about the frustration of finding a dress to wear to an upcoming wedding. So I decided to do a post on summer/early fall wedding guest etiquette.
- My biggest rule is don't wear white, save that for the bride. Are there loopholes to this? Of course, just as long as the dress is not solid white.
- Also, don't dress like you're going to the club. This means no extreme cleavage, open backs, or super short dresses. Be modest. Don't take the attention away from the bride.
- Don't be afraid of black. There are tons of warm weather appropriate dresses that are perfect for weddings. And in my opinion, paired with a nice tan, black looks stunning.
- There is nothing wrong with opting for a long dress, but be careful with the style you select. I recommend a flowy maxi dress in chiffon or cotton to differentiate you from the bridal party.
- And lastly, don't break your bank. Most women buy dresses and only wear them once, so be reasonable with the budget you set.
Here are some of my favorite dresses from affordable retailers & boutiques that can be worn for any formal occasion.
