The Color Purple

At one point or another in their career, most celebs experiment with bold, bright pops of color for their hair. It dawned on me while looking through red carpet photos from last night's Met Gala that purple is a primary color sported by A-listers. Nicole Richie and Kelly Osborne have been rocking lavender hues for some time now and it totally works for them.

Are funky colors for everyone? Definitely not. I tried this trend and let's just say it was very short-lived.

It all comes down to choosing the right shades for your hair color. Like Lauren Conrad, blondes should opt for softer lavender shades, while brunettes like Selena Gomez and Jordin Sparks look better in darker hues. I'm a huge fan of the dip dye method too. Unless you have the personality to match, changing your hair color drastically, I'm talking your whole head, is probably not the best idea. I recommend starting slowly with subtle highlights, then opting for the dip dye method if you love it, and if you're obsessed, then go for your whole head.
