Trend Alert: Fringe is In!

12 April 2014

Gone are the days when only cowboys, flappers, and Pocahontas could dawn fringe in their wardrobe. Celebrities like Fergie Ferg, Jennifer Garner, Kourtney Kardashian, and Jessica Szohr have been spotted all glammed up in fringe on red carpets and running the streets with casual fringe accessories. Fringe is in baby!

Today most people associate the trendy swinging strands with music festival attire most commonly seen at Coachella. Inspired by runway looks, more and more retailers are stocking up on this season's must-have trend from apparel to accessories to shoes.

There's a certain nostalgic feeling one gets when wearing fringe. It feels like you're playing dress up like when you were a little kid going through your grandma's closet. Don't lie, whenever you try on something with fringe I know you do a little shimmying and shaking, I'm pretty sure every girl does it in the privacy of a dressing room or their bedroom.

I've recently added these bad boys to my shoe collection. A little bit goes a long way with fringe, so I choose stick with one fringe piece. Adding too much is just tacky like jewelry, a handbag, and top all in the same ensemble.

I found these fringe booties on sale at Shoe Dazzle two weeks ago and they final came in! The stud and fringe combo is super edgy. I wore these last night with boyfriend jeans, a white camisole, and black leather crop jacket. I received tons of compliments on them and they were super comfortable because of the strap which provided extra support.

Focusing on apparel, the versatility of the styles of clothing incorporating fringe leave the door wide open for outfit ideas ranging from casual to dressy. The fringe vest below from UOI is more casual which I'd pair with a crop top and shorts, maxi dress, or bandeau and maxi skirt as pictured. The coral fringe dress from Shop Three Little Birds is a bit more chic which I'd dress up with heels and bangles and perhaps a blazer depending on the occasion.

Some more styling ideas for fringe.

I Love U...UOIonline that is: UOI Valentine Looks

04 February 2014

Love is in the air. No, it's not because of a man. It's because of UOIONLINE's sassy, sexy, and sophisticated apparel and accessories in stock for Valentine's Day.

Every girl wants to look her best on the 14th of February. If you have a man, you're going to want to look extra special for him and whatever festivities you have planned. If you're single (like me! shout out to all the single ladies!), you want to look scrumptious so the men can eat their heart out. So naturally a new outfit is a must. But, there is a positive to this shopping excursion. Reds, pinks, yellows, whites, leopards, chevrons...all these prints are neutral throughout the year, especially for the upcoming spring season (if it ever gets here! Thanks Punxsutawney Phil). So don't think of this outfit as a one hit wonder, think of it as preparation for your spring wardrobe. If you're anything like me, you don't need a reason to buy a new outfit. I took out the garbage...that deserves a new outfit!

The fabulous and always affordable UOI has their Valentine's Day collection available for purchase and I'll tell you, I'm not hating it. Everything is tres chic, comfortable, affordable, and versatile.

1. Forever in Bloom Dress: White - This flowy dress is the perfect simplistic palette to add some bold accessories and shoes. A bit more formal, I'd wear this out to dinner or to a more upscale bar/lounge. Styled with a chunky statement necklace like the Knot Your Average Necklace, some knuckle rings, and bright red pumps, this dress is a winner. Not to mention it will definitely be a must have for spring with some wedges.

2. Forever in Bloom Dress: Mint - Same dress, different color. I love the detailing on the back. The strap acts as extra support so you don't feel so exposed with the open back.

3.  Wild at Heart Top - Leopard print and peplum...need I say more? The cut out heart accent is the perfect touch for Valentine's Day, but versatile enough to be worn any other day. I'd add a black boyfriend blazer to complete this look and pair it with some dark skinny jeans and d'orsay pumps.

4. Heart Throb Dress - This dress makes me think warm weather! An unconventional take on the traditional Valentine colors, the unique colors and patterns of this dress definitely speak for its name.

5.  Be Mine Blouse: Coral - This blouse needs to Be Mine. A simple sheer blouse compliments any casual or formal look. Depending on your plans, I'd dawn this blouse tucked into some dark denim with a form fitting blazer/cardigan and pumps or wedges or tucked into a high-waist pencil skirt with kitten heels.

1. Stealing Hearts Blouse - Another casual blouse to sport during school or work before your night plans. I'm thinking a nice sock bun, chunky infinity scarf, and riding boots to complete this look.

2. The Sweetie Top - Ultimate comfort top! You can bet I'll be rockin' this top with some leggings and Uggs before and after Valentine's Day.

3. Wild Rose Leggings - I'm into the print leggings this season. Style and comfort mixed in an elastic waistband...heaven. Add the black Sweetie Top and layer a leather bomber jacket over to complete this sporty chic look.

4. Flowers in her Hair Top - Lace is the epitome of romance and this top screams it. Beautiful crocheted lace cap sleeves compliment the high-low hem of this semi-sheer blouse. A trendy leather skater skirt, black tights, and knee high boots bring this whole look together.

5. Forget Me Not Sweater - It's hard to forget a sweater as cute as this. I like this look because the flowers fit with the Valentine's Day theme, but aren't overboard. Sweaters are so versatile that you could wear a garbage bag skirt and you'd still look fabulous. Jeans, skirts, slacks, or shorts...it all depends on the look you're trying to achieve.

1. February's Infinity Scarf - Infinity scarves are my absolute favorite winter accessory. The lightweight material of this scarf makes it wearable into the spring months as well so you get longevity for your buck. I prefer infinity scarves with a casual outfit because they tend to dress down apparel.

2. The Dainty Bangle - This piece is great for pairing with other bangles to create some real arm candy.

3. My Sweetheart's Bracelet -
Chunky bracelets = Happy Kelly

And last but not least.....

Ok, I'll let you collect your thoughts for a second because I'm sure you're still in shock from this fashion overload.

You good?

You sure?
