Mad About Plaid

Plaid is like leopard..neutral and always in style. I personally wear plaid year round. Plaid skirts in the summer and fall (of course I opt for lighter colors of plaid in the summer) and plaid tops and accessories during the winter.

When most people hear plaid, they think of button downs and overalls. That's not the case at all in the fashion world. Plaid has become quite chic and stylish over the past few years. But it's a tricky style to master. I say this because I've seen so many women try to go for an edgy look with plaid by incorporating too many bold pieces in their outfit. Don't overdo it. Let the plaid be the standout piece of your outfit. If the plaid in your ensemble is through clothing, steer clear of chunky accessories or statement shoes. That'll take your look from chic to freak.

My biggest pet peeve is too much of a good thing. What's that mean? Don't think you have to repeat a pattern in your entire outfit. Just because you have a plaid skirt on doesn't mean you should pair it with plaid pumps and a plaid headband. Tacky! Save those pumps and headband for different outfits. Then you'll be able to stretch your plaid addition for 3 separate outfits.

Seeing as fall is quickly approaching. Here's 4 different looks I put together with plaid as the focal print.
