Faux Fur is the Best Fur

06 November 2014

Tis the season for faux fur vests! I love how versatile they are. Dress up an outfit for a chic look or dress it down with some jeans and boots for a more casual look. I don't wear vests for warm by any means, so when people say they're freezing and throw on a vest I just laugh. Hello! There's no sleeves. That'll keep you warm! Vests are more of an accessory to me.

I just got this faux fur vest from BooHoo and could not be happier with the purchase. It fits perfectly, is super light weight so I don't feel too bulky in it, and goes with so many tops in my closet.

Like my look? Here are a few others of my favorite faux fur vests available this season from some of my favorite retailers. (All of which are super affordable!) What do you think?! (Remember my Fur-Real post from last year? Such a #tbt)

Honeycake Clothing Debut at NYFW

21 February 2014

Be on the lookout for Carolina Fredlund, an emerging Swedish designer who just debuted her first collection at Mercedes Benz NYFW. Her line is called Honeycake which features all handmade pieces. When I first saw Carolina's designs I fell in love. Each piece is edgy and chic while still maintaining a level of sophistication. I can easily rock any of these looks in the office, on a date, out with the girls, or for a casual weekend.

I especially love the fur shrug paired below with the black bodycon dress. There's so much you can do with just that one piece, so you definitely get your moneys worth.

Her website is under maintenance, but is expected to re-launch within the next few days. Follow the fabulous Carolina and her designs through Facebook and Instagram. This is one designer that is going places.

Are You Fur-Real?!

10 December 2013

Furs are back, faux furs that is. I certainly don’t condone real fur used in the fashion industry.  Why pay all that money for something that was once a living creature, slaughtered for the materialistic needs of humans? You can purchase similar furs, which sometimes look better than the real thing, for a fraction of the cost and wear it without a guilty conscience. Sorry, had to get my PETA rant out of the way.

Like I was saying, the fabulous faux furs on the market today add a vintage look to the season’s fashions. Fuzzy, shaggy, or fluffy, a little texture can go a long way. Faux fur coats, vests, or scarves are my top picks, anything else just looks tacky. A minimalist way to achieve this look is opting for a coat with a faux fur trim or hood.
Here are a few of my inspirations I found on Pinterest for styling faux fur along with affordable retailers. Consider this my holiday gift to you!
